Weightloss journey – day 1 (aka see how fat I am)

This is a tricky post for me. I probably shouldn’t share this… but I need to lose weight and get healthy, and I am hoping this will give me the kick I need. This post is my starting point. Where I stand today, and what’s going on in my mind.

I have posted before about how overweight I am, and how unhappy I was about it. I also posted about how determined I am to get in shape, fit and healthy.  Well I failed, miserably. Every time I get to that “time of the month” I allow myself to slip, and by the end of it I’ve given up totally.

Now the long-awaited “PureGym” has opened near me, and I have turned 26. I have to sort myself out.

The Pros and Cons

The downsides of being this big.

  1. I dread buying new clothes because I hate how they look on me.
  2. I avoid people from my past as I’m ashamed of how I look.
  3. I also dread meeting new people.
  4. I worry about getting myself physically STUCK in small spaces.
  5. I ache. I feel physically unfit. More so than ever before.
  6. I worry I’ll not be able to run and play with Olivia the way she may expect in years to come.
  7. I spend a lot of money on shitty food – like 3 chocolate bars from the vending machine at 70p a pop.
  8. It’s shameful and embarrassing to recount the food I have eaten some days.
  9. The nice clothes don’t fit. Fashionable things aren’t designed for my shape.
  10. My C-section scar is in the crease where my stomach flops overs (*gags*) and it gets hot and hurts.

Plus sides of being this big

  1. It’s easy. Requires no self-control or discipline.
  2. I can eat and enjoy whatever food I like.
  3. All my current clothes fit.

Fat score = Positives: 3 negatives: 10, so 3-10 = -7

Downsides of getting fit

  1. It’s hard work
  2. The gym and associated clothes cost money.
  3. It takes time and effort to prepare healthy food.
  4. Loss of my “veg in front of the TV” time every other day.

Plus sides of getting fit

  1. I will look SO much better.
  2. I will feel SO much better.
  3. I will regain my confidence and go out more socially.
  4. I’ll spend less on piles of crap.
  5. That smug feeling slim people have as they decline the 2nd cupcake – I’ll have that.
  6. I will know I can walk into any shop and buy something NICE, that fits and compliments me.
  7. I may be able to walk in super high heels without my ankles screaming.
  8. I can take up a sport that I enjoy.
  9. I’ll be able to join zumba type classes without worrying I’ll die a humiliating death within 5 minutes.
  10. Massive reduction in the risk of many diseases – inc type 2 diabetes and High blood pressure that my Mum developed in her late 40s.
  11. I’ll be able to run and skip and jump with Olivia until we both flake out
  12. Olivia will have less risk of growing up obese and unhealthy.

Fit score = Positives: 12 negatives: 4, so 12-4 = 8

Fat Score -7 vs Fit score 8.

No Brainer really isn’t it? If each disease had a point of its own it’d be through the roof, and Olivia growing up truly happy and healthy would have a few thousand itself.

I’ll be taking myself to the gym every other day once Madam is in bed, and managing my food intake. I’ve started up my thinking slimmer slimpod again. I still don’t know if it works as I never manage to keep it up long enough. This time has to be different.

Now for the tricky bit…

Run fatty run! Couch 2 5k

As you may have seen in the rest of my blog, I am currently on a mission the shed a few excess pounds. As well as eating better, using a thinking slimmer slimpod, my fitness pal and the blog post of weigh in Wednesday, tonight I have decided to start proper exercise.

After seeing a few people mention couch 2 5k, I decided this was the way for me to start. It’s a running plan that aims to get you from being a couch potato to running 5k in 8/9 weeks. Gradually increasing your runs.

I got an app that coaches you through. The first run is 5 minutes warm up, 1 minute run, 1.5 minute walk, repeating the run and walk for 15 minutes then a cool down walk for 5 minutes and stretches.

I did it last night. MissB is now in bed by 7pm, so once she was down I put the dinner on and left the husband type in charge of stirring it and making the rice and I was off, in the rain. Oh… My…. Word! I am SO unfit it’s shocking. The first run section I did was at a pretty fast pace for me, the last was pitiful! I am so proud of myself for doing it.

Today is my rest day, and I cannot wait to get out there tomorrow. Much to my favourite twitterers disgust!

I will keep you all updated with my progress, and no doubt come crawling with my race for life sponsorship page at some point.

Weigh in Wednesday – Week 1 #WeighInWeds

Weigh in wednesday logo

So here we go again folks! As this is the first post please share with us your current weight, your goals and your plan!

I’ll go first (Obviously, as I post it here before its live! lol)

I’m Frankee!

Current weight: 13st 8.2 lb

My Goal: I want to get to 10st 11 initially then reasses how much I want to lose from there. For me the end goal in more about looking and feeling good than actual numbers.

The plan: I am using My fitness pal (add me – username Mushmouth) and reducing my calories. I am using thinking slimmer slippod that I bought last year but trying it yet again, and I start the gym on May 31st, which is when it opens.

Reviving Weigh in Wednesday

weigh in wednesday loga

On my old blog. in an effort to lose weight, and support in each other, a few of us Ladies on twitter began weigh in Wednesday with hashtag #weighinweds. As my return to full-time work slowly took over my time, this got dropped and neglected. I also got fatter and fatter.

So I am starting it up again. Take this post as a warning – as of tomorrow weigh in Wednesday is back!

Ladies and gentlemen, please join us in supporting each other. Much like the groups that people pay a few £’s to each week, the post will be put up each Wednesday and we will come together and share our weight-loss (positive thinking folks!). We can share our successes and help each other with struggles.

I hope to see your names and comments tomorrow, as we try to get our backsides back in gear! The badge above links back to the “Weigh in Wednesday” page where all posts will be listed. Please feel free to add this to your own blog. Also, we will be using the same hashtag – #WeighInWeds

Thank you all in advance for your support!

My New hobby

I have a new hobby! Crocheting!

I’ve been able to do granny squares since my mum taught me as a little one, But I’ve never made anything. In fact I started making a huge black and purple blanket , which was really a giant Granny square. I started making it for her 21st birthday. She will be 24 in june. Oooops!

After seeing a lovely mummy on instagram learning and playing with shapes, I caught the bug again and decided to give making hats a go, using the wool I had left from my sisters blanket.

here is my first attempt.

A purple and black Crochet hat

As you can see, it’s a bit small for my little lady! I need a much bigger needle as the stitches are tight. I think this would fit a 3-6 month old.

On saturday I went and bought more wool and bigger needles, so watch this space. I’ll be posting all sorts of random crochet creations!

My poor neglected blog….

It seems I’ve neglected my blog! no post since very early february…. My Sincere apologies dear blog. I am back now. HA. No escape.

So, in the last 2 or so months, whats happened? Not much really. Miss B walks and talks. Shes also turned 1. I have to admit that she is no longer a baby, though she will be forever MY baby, she is now a toddler. An Amazing, kind, funny, sweet little girl.

Miss B sat in a sandpit

*Proud mummy alert!*

She can now say – Hiya, Bye bye, Shoes (her all time favourite) Cow, duck, juice, good girl, ta, Daddy, Josh, Sarah, Laura, Teddy, rooooar (not a word I grant you that, but lions make the best noises) yes (while nodding) no (while shaking her head)

Any cuddles are accompanied by “awwwwww” and her teddies get the best hugs and kisses. Though when I dropped her off at nursery this morning, she gave another little girl the sweetest hug. I watch her play with other children of all ages, and she shares wonderfully, offering them toys but cries when things are snatched from her. She says “hiya” to complete strangers and grins at them until they respond. She is just the cutest, sweetest, funniest little madam. Yes I know, we all think that about our children… but she is! 😛

She is totally obsessed with shoes, shouting shooooooes, shooooooes and trying to put them on. The noisy clomper ones are obviously the best fun.

I think I’ll leave you with that big pile of sentimental gooey mush for now…

The very generic MP3 player shuffle game (meme)

Beth aka Plasticrosaries (her again) over at pieces of me tagged me in this meme type thing and I can never turn such a thing down so here we are playing the mp3 player shuffle game!
Here’s some rules:
The rules are this: you put your generic mp3 player onto shuffle and you tell the universe what the first five songs that come up are (NO CHEATING!)
Then you tag five bloggers to join in (or more, or less, that part is ok to fiddle – but the actual songs are not!)

Sooooo

Song one
